How a Round Works

A round of roulette begins when the betting window opens. During this time, players place chips on the designated sections of the table, betting on their chosen number, colour or group of numbers. Once the time is up, the dealer (or the game animation) announces "no more bets" — no chips can be placed after that.

The wheel is then spun in one direction and the small ball is released in the opposite direction. The ball gradually slows down and eventually settles into one of the numbered slots on the wheel. Whichever number the ball lands on is the result of that round. Bets placed on that number or category pay out at the set ratio; all other bets are lost.

Each round is independent — the result of a previous round has no effect on the next one. Keeping this basic fact in mind reduces the temptation to follow ideas about "hot" or "cold" numbers.

Main Bet Types and Payouts

Roulette has two broad categories of bets — inside bets (the inner section of the table) and outside bets (the outer section). Inside bets carry higher risk and higher payouts; outside bets have a better chance of winning but lower rewards.

Straight Up (single number)

A direct bet on one specific number. If that number comes up, you win 35 times your stake. This is the highest-risk bet.

Payout 35:1

Split (two adjacent numbers)

Place a chip on the line between two adjacent numbers. If either one comes up, you win 17 times your stake.

Payout 17:1

Street and Corner

A bet on a row of three numbers (Street, 11:1) or on the corner shared by four numbers (Corner, 8:1).

Street 11:1  |  Corner 8:1

Red or Black

A bet on whether the number will be red or black. A win pays equal to your stake — with roughly a 48.6% chance of winning.

Payout 1:1

Odd or Even

A bet on whether the number will be odd or even. If zero (0) or double zero (00) comes up, the bet loses.

Payout 1:1

Dozens and Columns

Bet on one of three dozens: 1–12, 13–24 or 25–36. You can also bet on one of the three columns in the same way. A win pays double your stake.

What Is House Edge and Why It Matters

House edge is the casino's mathematical advantage over the long run. In roulette it comes directly from the zero slot on the wheel — when the ball lands there, almost all even-money bets (red/black, odd/even) lose, yet the zero is not factored into the payout calculation.

European roulette has only one zero, so the house edge is relatively low — about 2.7%. The American version adds a double zero (00), pushing it to about 5.26%. For players who spend longer sessions at the table, that single difference makes the European table the more reasonable choice.

Some European tables have the "La Partage" rule — if zero comes up, half of even-money stakes are returned, bringing the effective house edge down further to about 1.35%. This type of table is also available in the 3kk Casino section.

Key Strategy Points for Beginners

No strategy in roulette can guarantee a win, because every spin is independent and the wheel has no memory. However, certain habits can help you keep your session longer and more controlled.

01

Choose a European table

The lower house edge means you can play more rounds with the same amount of money.

02

Start with outside bets

Red/black or odd/even bets win close to half the time — this helps preserve your balance early on.

03

Set your budget in advance

Decide the maximum amount you are willing to spend in a session before you start, and stick to that limit.

04

Be cautious with the Martingale system

Doubling your bet after every loss is a popular method, but if you hit the table limit or run out of balance, it can lead to significant losses.

Live Dealer vs Digital Roulette

Digital (RNG) Roulette

In computer-driven digital roulette, the result of every spin is determined by a random number generator (RNG). You are in full control of the pace — the next spin starts the moment you press the button. There is no time pressure, which makes it a good place to learn the rules for new players.

Minimum bet amounts are generally lower, so you can practise for a longer time with a small balance. Just like the slots section on 3kk, you can jump in at any time.

Live Dealer Roulette

At live dealer tables broadcast directly from studios such as Evolution, Pragmatic Play Live and Ezugi, a trained dealer spins a real wheel. You can watch the chip placement process on camera, see in real time where the ball lands, and use the chat feature.

Minimum bets on these tables tend to be a little higher, but the depth of the experience is entirely different. It is the closest thing to sitting in a real casino from home.

Both live and digital roulette tables are easily accessible on the 3kk mobile app (Android APK and iOS versions are available through official channels).

How Table Limits Work

Every roulette table has a minimum and a maximum bet limit. These limits vary depending on the type of table.

Table Type Minimum Bet Best Suited For
Digital (RNG) — Standard Very low — ideal for getting started Complete beginners
Live Dealer — Mid-Limit Mid-range stakes Players with some experience
Live Dealer — High-Limit / VIP High minimum bet Regular and VIP members
Inside Bet (Straight Up) Can be lower than outside bets Players interested in high-risk bets

Table limits may differ for inside and outside bets. It is worth checking the information panel on the table before you start playing. See the Terms and Conditions page for full details.

Common Questions About Roulette

European roulette has 37 slots on the wheel — numbers 1 to 36 plus a single zero (0). The American version adds an extra double zero (00), making it 38 slots in total. That one difference nearly doubles the house edge in American roulette. If you want more rounds from the same budget, the European table is the better choice.

In European roulette, the ball has a 1/37 chance of landing on any single number — roughly 2.7%. The payout is 35:1, but mathematically the casino holds an advantage over the long run. Straight up bets are exciting, but they carry a higher risk of draining your balance quickly.

No special preparation is needed. However, the betting window on live tables is short — usually 15 to 30 seconds. It helps to know in advance what type of bet you want to place. Practising on digital RNG roulette first makes the move to live tables easier.

Yes, you can place multiple bets on different sections in the same round. For example, you can have one bet on red and another on a specific number at the same time. Just make sure your total bets stay within the table's maximum limit.

"La Partage" is a special rule found on some European tables. If zero (0) comes up, even-money bets (such as red/black or odd/even) are not fully lost — half the stake is returned to the player. This brings the effective house edge down from the standard 2.7% on European roulette to about 1.35%.
